Are You Really Being Your Authentic Self?

How to enjoy who you are and where you are right now.

“I’m too fat”

“I’m not good enough”

“I should be better”

Have you ever told yourself these things?

Most people want to be different – or better – in some way. And it causes all sorts of negative emotions… envy, self-pity, self-doubt…

It’s important to remember that every human has positives and negatives. That’s how we were created.

Yet we think our lives are supposed to be a certain way…

We think there should be more good and less bad.

We think people should do what we want.

We think things should be easier.

But that’s not the reality of life.

Life has good and bad experiences. Positive and negative emotions.

So what if we stopped waiting for a better version of ourselves or our lives and just enjoyed and appreciated who we are?

The first step to enjoying yourself is actually liking yourself. Make a conscious effort to like who you are. This means knowing what you want, doing things you love, saying no sometimes and taking care of your future self.

If you find yourself spending a lot of time trying to get people to like you or worrying about what they think of you, you will be doing what you think they want you to do and not what you want and love to do. You will not enjoy yourself.

There are good things about you and there are also areas that you may want to improve. Accept the positive and the negative.

If we beat ourselves up for the negative things, it is hard to love and honor ourselves for the positives. If we don’t recognize and address the negative things about who we are, it is hard to truly be our authentic selves.
